Children in Distress - Kitwe
Project, Zambia (CINDI): CINDI- Kitwe is a community-based
organisation in Kitwe, the 3rd largest town in
Zambia. The project is focused on helping to meet
the changing needs of Children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
It has a network of 720 community volunteers in
eleven (11) townships. There are 65,000 orphans
in Kitwe and CINDI-Kitwe has 14,000 orphans on

The Kenneth Kaunda Children of Africa
Foundation : This charitable organization
was founded by the former President of Zambia,
Kenneth Kaunda. It has Maya Angelou as Vice Chair.
The foundation is dedicated to helping the people
of southern Africa survive the AIDS epidemic especially
the millions of Children orphaned by the epidemic.

The Luke Society of Uganda :
The Luke Society of Uganda is focused on fighting
related diseases to which HIV-positive patients
are especially vulnerable to (pneumonia, tuberculosis,
malaria, and skin and respiratory infections).
The Luke Society facility currently treats some
400 HIV-positive patients. They also support 23
of the neediest orphans with tuition and medical
care. The Society is currently raising funds to
build a new, larger clinic to better serve the

SASO, Salima HIV-AIDS Support Organization

operating in Salima, a rural region in central

AIDS Orphans Education Trust -Uganda
(AOET): AOET is an independent, indigenous
non-governmental organization with the prime mandate
of providing an education -- formal and/or vocational
-- to desperately poor, neglected and forgotten
orphans whose parents have died of AIDS. The program

The Pendulum Project: The Pendulum
Project is a non-profit humanitarian organization
that helps families and communities care for,
support, and protect orphans and vulnerable children
in parts of the world that are severely impacted

Positive Action Society of Lesotho: Formed
in 1999, Positive Action Society of Lesotho aims
to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Southern
Africa by actively involving infected and affected
people. The group has 200 active volunteers who
operate from their rented premises in Maseru,
the capital of Lesotho. The core group consists
of People Living with HIV/AIDS (60%), Peer Educators
and affected people (family member suffering from

Heartbreak and Hope is an initiative
of the Global Ministries of the United Methodist

The Baylor International Pediatric AIDS
Initiative on Africa: A collaboration
between Baylor University and Bristol-Myers Squibbs'
Secure the Future program. The goal of the Baylor
program is to provide comprehensive medical and

African AIDS Supplement Fund: The
Committee for World Health gives nutritional supplements
to children who suffer from AIDS, malaria, and
numerous other viral and parasitic diseases, at
the orphanage of Fairfield Hospital in Zimbabwe.
